Blythswood Foodbank

Bill Hamilton of the KLM Partnership is seen here presenting a cheque to the Blythswood Highland Foodbank representatives Danny Muschate and Lorna Dempster.

Danny Muschate, Blythswood Care said that “Over the last three years the Highland Foodbank programme has extended into rural areas. This is a crisis programme, which provides a three day supply of non-perishable food to people who find themselves in desperate situations without funds for food. In the 10 years since it began, in October 2005, over 34,000 clients have been helped. As well as the two centres in Inverness, Blythswood Care have Foodbank centres operating in Alness, Aviemore, Dingwall, Kyle of Lochalsh, Nairn, Tain, Thurso and Wick.

The grant from the KLM Partnership will go towards directly buying the additional food needed when supplies of particular items are short for making up the nutritionally balanced food packages. All food otherwise is from public and business donations.”

Bill Hamilton, a Partner with KLM Partnership said that “As a Partnership, our contribution today is our way of supporting our local communities and we are delighted to be able to support Blythswood Care.”
